The tradition of cyberpunk short stories as metanarrative commentary on sci-fi goes back to the very beginning, with William Gibson's own The Gernsback Continuum. The two masters at work here pull the joke to ridiculous, ludicrous extent. But I'm not spoil(er)ing your fun.
