I haven't read this in ages and it still holds up.
Digger is such a fun protagonist. Very level-headed and affable, and an absolute badass when she needs to be. Remember Tunnel 17, y'all.
Love the mysteries set up in this one. Shadowchild's origins, Ed's backstory, the Veil being kind of shady, and, of course, why the heck Digger got in this world in the first place.
This series is an absolute delight.
