Beyond Survival: Strategies and Stories from the Transformative Justice Movement by Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha, Ejeris Dixon

5.0

Beyond Survival is a powerful collection of practical experiences, tools, and ways forward towards a world of alternative forms of justice. This book offers a wide view of the many ways that transformative justice can work and has worked in the past. As someone who often dreams of a world with less state violence coming from our institutions and systems, this book brought my head out of the clouds and my feet to the ground.

Some of the most powerful lessons i learned in this book we’re ways those who have harmed can take accountability and begin to repair, ways that communities can hold abusers accountable, and alternatives to calling the police.

This book inspired me while also giving me 100+ pages of real life tools that i will use in my personal and professional life on the road to transforming justice.
