I had been looking forward to reading this book, as I had enjoyed a previous book by this author (The 100 Year Old Man) but I ended up being extremely disappointed. The book is insanely boring and the characters are all rather unlikeable. The two main characters Nombeko & Holger 2 are … fine? I didn’t dislike them but I certainly was not attached to them. I considered adding this to the DNF pile but ended up pushing through and finishing the book. Kinda regret that decision though. Also it should be noted the book uses a lot of derogatory language that in my opinion is incredibly unnecessary to the story and I’m very confused as to why is was so prevalent in this kind of story?
