While it took be a bit longer than I hoped to get into Convergence, compared to some of the other High Republic books, I ended up really enjoying this story. As with most Star Wars media, the characters were complex and flawed in various ways, which just add to their charm. The story mostly focuses on the war between Eiram and E'ronoh, two neighboring planets who have been at odds for hundreds of years. It was definitely interesting to learn more about these planets since their history is a big part of the Phase 1 book Into the Dark.

I really loved the Gella, a Jedi who is trying to find her place in the world, and Axel Greylark, the chancellor's billionaire playboy son, who is just a wonderful mess. Their dynamic was so good and really added some layers to the story.

Of course this book does what every Star Wars book does and gets me attached to characters that don't make it through the story. Maybe not as much as others, but still! Star Wars, why do you always do this to me? But I keep coming back for more, and I'm excited to see what happens in Cataclysm.
