East of the West: A Country in Stories by Miroslav Penkov

4.0

It was a really good collection of short stories set in Bulgaria. I think my favorite one was "East of the West" - something about the village divided by the river and now in two different countries really touched my heart. "Buying Lenin" was also good, but I mostly liked the bickering between the grandson and grandfather. "Makedonija" has the saddest description of a life in a nursing home that I've ever read.
