Ain't Burned All the Bright by Jason Reynolds

First and foremost, the physical book is delicious. It’s strangely heavy and the pages are so glossy. Mmmmm. A textural dream. I just want to run my palms flat against the pages forever and use it as a weighted blanket.

Ugh. And then visually?? Also delicious. So vibrant. I wonder how expensive it was to print this book. I have no idea how that works but I’d give up every penny for those colors. Mmmmmmmmmm.

Oh yeah and the actual book. Like, y’know, the text and the story and all that. Fantastic. This multimodal novel contained so few words and yet said so much. This certainly was a risk, but it was well worth it.
