this was really fun to buddy read with barbora and na!! (idk how to tag people, so whatever lol). i have a serious love/hate relationship with this series...maybe this author in general. but i was REALLY excited for this after reading the murtagh story in the short story thing.. for witch and worm? whatever that one was. and i think that story was kind of reworked into here bc that whole scene was v familiar.

so as much as i love this character, this was very much an 800+ page book where murtagh and thorn go places and sulk. there's some nice character work/growth/development/whatever you want to call it. but really, nothing happens. there's a part where they get sidetracked and it felt like it should've been a short stop along the way, but ended up being a huge chunk of the book. i love me a religious zealot but it was just...idk. weird. drawn out. tedious. *shrug*

i did forget the narrator does a sort of scottish accent for murtagh, which was lovely. and i always love reading about the bond with dragons. i don't love it like some people do, but i think i'll keep reading whatever paolini writes in this world! even if it ends up being meh for me. it's just an intriguing world, i think.
