Justice League, Volume 5: Forever Heroes by Geoff Johns

2.0

Another installment where I know I’m only getting part of the picture. I have only recently (in the past month or so) started reading DC, and was enjoying the fact that most of their titles seemed self-contained. That appears to no longer be the case. The huge disconnect I felt in volume 4 is increased here, as an entire chunk of story is missing between volumes 4 and 5 (mainly, everything that happened to take the Justice League out of commission). This information is presumably contained in an event volume somewhere else, but it would be nice to have some kind of recap at the beginning of this installment, or a pointer to where the event is collected and can be read.

And though it’s neat to see the various takes on our iconic cast of characters, the story doesn’t feel full enough to warrant an entire volume, particularly since all those "various takes" are just flip-flopping the origin stories we already know.
