A fun, dare I say comfy, beach-read haunt! Familiar in some ways but different enough to keep one guessing, with a satisfying ending. Some stronger copy editing could have helped greatly.

SpoilerThis is super subjective but the way male for male queerness accompanied those characters' evilness and reveals as cultists struck me as unfortunate and took me out of the story. Super happy with messy or even evil queer characters, but putting them together like this made it feel like "he's a murderous cultist AND gay!?" and that wasn't for me. I would have liked some of the other plot elements around the cult to be more fleshed out and foreshadowed as well, but the sudden descent to chaos worked in its way!
