I think the comments that this book goes down hill or loses its way halfway through are pretty accurate. It starts off on the right note and is really engaging, but at some point I just lost all interest. It wasn’t just the plot. It was also the characters. And, given that Simak’s writing already wasn’t my cup of tea this book was just a slog for me.
I don’t think this is the most accurate representation of Simak or his best work. I’m sure he’s better than this, but I’m not sure if I liked this enough to bother trying.
