Remember, three stars is "I liked this book." And I liked this book. It's good. It has interesting ideas and some really cool characters. It's like if William S. Burroughs saw the movie Highlander and decided to use the idea of a race of immortals battling to the death but set it in a sort of pseudo-fantasy world. This is a book that has characters with names like The Gland Master, Liver Dye, and The Ever Decreasing Circle of Choice and it works. Which takes some chops.

And it is a lot of fun. My problem is, you don't get to know a lot of those ideas or characters or spend a lot of time with them. It's a lot of crazy cool stuff thrown at you quickly, but without much time to really explore a lot of it. And the story ends abruptly, and I'm not sure if that's because there's a sequel or the author had addressed the theme he wanted to address and quit, which is perfectly fine.

If you're looking for something you haven't read before, it's definitely worth a shot, or if you want to get a lot of cool concepts just thrown at you rapid-fire, give it a try.
