Broken Pieces by Riley Hart

5.0

A rollercoaster of emotions. Three broken men who fit together and make each other whole. This book is full of heart ache, longing, and pain, but also so much love.

This book is nothing like the other works by Riley Hart I have read (and enjoyed) so I was somewhat shocked by the content because this is not what I have come to expect from her. Nevertheless, I adored this story.

Spoilers ahead:
Spoiler Part 1 had me convinced I would never be okay seeing Josiah love someone else other than Mateo because they felt so made for each other. Part 2 broke my heart so bad seeing how many years of loneliness and heart ache Josiah suffered through, but Tristan grew on me faster than I expected and came to love them as a couple. In part 3, when Mateo showed up, I felt resentful of him because Josiah had finally found happiness again, but once the three of them came together it felt like everything in the novel made sense. I was surprised again and again by the turns this story took and how much I came to love the three of these men with each other, separately and together.

In the very beginning of the book, I was skeptical I would enjoy reading this because of Mateo's past trauma with being forced to participate in gang activity by his father. I thought the discomfort of reading about that would ruin this book for me, but once I got past the first 5-10% I loved every bit of this book, even though it hurt so bad or made me so angry at times.

The fireworks when they all came together for the first time... my god. I am an inexperienced mmm reader and I am INTRIGUED.
