A rare DNF (did not finish) for me. Although the story was intriguing I struggled with the language - too many similies and a lot of very lyrical description which I found took me out of the story.
I think this is one of those books you either love the way it is written or don't, and unfortunately in this particular case I was in the latter camp.
Definitely looking forward to seeing what Cartwright does in the future though, as I appreciate a debut novel isn't a full taste of someone's abilities!
