Map of My Heart by John Porcellino

3.0

I picked up The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For at the library, and Sam offered to check it out for me. She then picked this up for herself. Little did I realize it was a cunning plot... guess who has spent more time reading Dykes to Watch Out For and who's been left with Map of My Heart?

I mean, obviously I read the whole thing though.

My biggest problem with this book is that I'm not into Zen Buddhism. That's a problem with me, not the book. I did get more into the book as it went along, and I actually found some of the stories more interesting when I got to the end and discovered Porcellino had put them into the context of what was going on in his life when he wrote them.

The other great thing about this book is that it made me want to make comics! As far as art goes, Map of My Heart was totally fascinating even when not always my cup of tea.
