Maybe if I knew the story this was a retelling of I would have enjoyed this more, but to me this just felt a little pointless?
I found the flashbacks and non-linear style really confusing, and kept having to go back to see if I had missed something. It also depended a lot on you caring about the main couple and wanting them to live their cat-filled life together but cause it was so broken up I feel I never really got to fall in love with them.
Perhaps this would have worked better if it were like a companion to a novel/series where these characters are more fleshed out, but it just fell flat for me sadly.
