I grew up watching the movie, so getting to read the book was delightful!
It is written phonetically (Irish accent), so sometimes there were words I had to puzzle out, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the book. The stories are more of a collection of various, linked adventures that I found humorous and often charming.
If you're looking for a quick, lighthearted read, then this is perfect. I imagine reading this to kids would be fun too.
