Strange Weather in Tokyo by Hiromi Kawakami

3.0

"Strange Weather in Tokyo" is a humane story about a woman who meets her old teacher and they develop a friendship that turns into a romance.

I usually avoid a teacher-student relationship, even if they are both adults. But this one was so sweet, not romantic exactly, but quite deep, simple, and with a nice progress.

I especially loved their non romantic 'dates' where they went for mountain hiking, to a cherry blossom party, or simply for drinks.

However, I do think that the translation wasn't that great, as there were parts that they were messy and that wasn't because of the magical realism.
