Moderate: Adult/minor relationship
Minor: Sexual content
I didn't like that Matthias is 22 and Rho as 17. The age gap was addressed, but later written off. They may only be 5 years apart, but she's still a minor and he is an adult and in an authoritative position over her. Romance should never cross his mind with her and definitely shouldn't be acted on. The fact that Matthias kisses her then cuddles in bed with her with his hand up her shirt is disgusting and should not have been allowed to be in a book where it was not spoken out against. Rho's not at fault for crushing on him, but he is an adult and should not be catching feels for a minor who cannot consent to any form of sexual contact with a grown man. It's weird that a man would be interested in a child no matter how smart she is. This is why my choice in the whole love triangle diabolical was a shoe in. So glad the author went with Hassan since he was the same age as Rho and not in a protector role. Plus he was funny and really cared for her. I know this is a sci-fi fantasy and Rho is forced into an adult role, but I just could not be okay with the age gap. If the author wanted it she could've made Tho 18. Still would've been taboo but at least it wouldn't be illegal.
