Brodie's Report by Jorge Luis Borges

4.0

Less borgesian but still Borges. A very nice book and a satysfing mouthwasher for when you finish his bigger works (the laconic style in contrast to the earlier baroque is cathartic in a way. Feels like sitting down with the old man after a full day of adventures). It's in need of more variety but it's also heartwarming to read something this close yet impersonal to the author, even though the actual nature of the tales are dark, violent and meaningless, and almost always ending on a tragic note (similar to his earlier work).

Also, he called out on Shaw's prologues.
