The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas

It’s been so long since I’ve read a book I could barely put down. This was amazing, with endearing and complex characters, perfect pacing, and super thought-provoking issues. I’ve kept up with news about police brutality, read about BLM, but reading a personal story from a black woman’s perspective changed my life. I know this will be a classic and for a good reason, it’s incredible how books can put you into the shoes of someone completely different to you. Amazingly written too, the first book I’ve read with a partially AAVE narrator and it flowed great. I’m proud of this books success I’m so glad so many are reading and learning, I was spot 300 on hold for this book, and I understand why now.
