🤺 Elantris & The Hope of Elantris by Brandon Sanderson

"The first step in taking control of a nation, Arteth, is the simplest. You find someone to hate."

Overall: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Characters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
World Building: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

In a fallen magical city, a cursed prince struggles to help fellow outcasts while his supposed widow battles religious conversion attempts, unaware he lives among the transformed Elantrians.

This book was so fun! There are so many different plot points that Sanderson does a great job of weaving together and having them intersect. I could not get over how Raoden and Sarene kept dancing around each other the whole book. Sarene is such a fun, strong lead character and I loved how Raoden is just an all around good guy. He’s very idealistic and not willing to compromise on them. There’s a good amount of foreshadowing with me figuring out a few things here and there, but also totally missing some things. For the second half of the book I wasn’t sure how Sanderson was going to wrap everything up without there being a cliffhanger with the amount of things going on.

The Hope of Elantris is a short story going into more detail about something that happens during the events of Elantris. While unnecessary, it is a cute uplifting story.
