History Smashers: Pearl Harbor by Kate Messner

4.0

As a huge fan of children's non-fiction books, this one is pretty okay. Dies a decent job explaining things in a juvenile friendly way.
Like many history books, it is biased - though you can tell an effort was made not to be so. Raising themes like colonialism and racism, I think this book attempts a balanced view of history but is not completely successful. For example: When discussing Hiroshima and Nagasaki, no mention is made of Japan being on the verge of surrender and really skips over how that too was an incredibly cruel act of war.
