I was following for about the first 50% but I'm so confused by the ending ... am I right in saying that the plot twist was that Forrest wasn't Forrest but then maybe he was? What was the point of that?

  Anyway, I followed the first 50% of the novel but I was so lost by the end that I was just glad I could mark it as read and move on.
