Dnf halfway through when I realised that I'm forcing myself to keep reading just to get this off my list of things I meant to read for ages. I enjoy Waugh's nihilistic humour in his more lighthearted novels but this felt too heavily steeped in remorse and catholic guilt to sit well with me.
