Explosive Forces by D.D. Ayres
4.0
Explosive Forces is book five in the K-9 Rescue series by D.D. Ayres. This one stands on it’s own. The only connecting factor between Explosive Forces and the other books in this series is the kennel the K-9 was trained at, yet that’s just a mention.
Carly is sassy, fiery, and goes after what she wants. Noah is a single dad, good at his job, and all out sexy alpha male with his adorable K-9 partner Harley.
Explosive Forces starts off strong with our heroine, Carly, saving the life of our hero, Noah, and his K-9 partner, Harley. It’s a fiery and explosive encounter in more ways then one. Their is no slow burn for this couple. They pretty much take off from the get go even though they don’t know each other. Ones life and carrier is in danger and the others business is about to not get off the ground. There’s an intense plot, it's fast-paced, entertaining, and full of sweetness that only a K-9 can add too.
I’d classify their romance as insta-love/lust that somehow ended up working out pretty well. I wasn’t overly happy with how quickly these two got together and I will say I was a bit disappointed we didn’t get to see or spend time with Noah’s son. Though I understand why he was out of the picture. The man wants to keep his family safe while he tries to discover who’s out to kill him and his partner.
Explosive Forces was more suspenseful and lighter on the romance, but I enjoyed it. I liked watching these two try to figure out who was framing Noah. The suspense was nicely done. Keeping me on my toes and kept turning those pages to find out what would happen next.
Ayres has definitely climbed on my “must read” list with this phenomenal series. I’m relishing each and every novel in the K-9 Rescue series which gives us a touch of danger, loyal canine companions, fierce heroines, and tantalizing heroes.
Rated: 4 Stars
