Nearly 5 stars, only less because nothing can compare to the first book. Getting Jack & Jill's story was unexpected, but so enlightening. I loved Jack in Every Heart, and grew even fonder of her as I saw where she came from. The twins' tragedy makes even more sense, and becomes even more inevitable, when you see the conditions that raised them. The author's voice is matter-of-fact and fantastical at the same time, painting the moors as the loving horror that could only breed Jack & Jill. I am obsessed with every piece of this story, and will read anything Seanan McGuire writes forever.
