The Regrets
by Amy Bonnaffons
Another first novel that really impressed me with it confidence and ingenuity. It's a sexy hipster ghost story, but also a fair bit more, but also just what it is. I loved the character development. I'm especially impressed with the world-building/cosmology of the book. It is spare and never overworked, but sturdy enough that I never felt like thing were happening randomly, or that corners were being cut to wrap up the story. Graceful, is perhaps a good word for it. A perfect book to finish reading the evening before Valentine's Day.
