I feel like this book wasn't that good compared to The Giver, for starters it felt more like a standalone book then a sequel to the Giver as there isn't even a mention of that world. This book is about a girl called Kira whose mum has just died and has a twisted leg who has to go live on her own. Also, this book has a lot of ableism in it, as people don't see Kira as equal just because her leg is twisted.
I feel like another thing that disappointed me about this book was the ending, it was clear that Kira's father would come back but what actually shocked me was that Kira chose to live under the watch of the man who tried to kill her dad rather than living in place where she would be accepted with her leg instead of being shunned. This ending left me quite disappointed and sad.
Anyways if you want to continue the Giver series you can read this, but don't expect anything great.
