My Little Pony: Friends Forever, Volume 1 by Alex de Campi, Jeremy Whitley, Ted Anderson

4.0

Continuing excellence from the My Little Pony comics! This new series takes the focus off the Mane 6 as a whole, looking at relationships between two characters or, in some cases, two groups of characters.

The best story in this volume is easily the one focusing on Spike and Princess Celestia. The artwork is different from the other stories, with a softer feel, which gives everything a rather sedate feel, despite the "adventure" taking place. The conversations between Spike and Celestia reveal much about their characters, and about Celestia in particular. It is very, for lack of a better word, "humanizing."

If your little one can read or you're able to give a bit of help, adding the MLP comics to their bookshelves would be an excellent idea!
