The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco

January 2018: Wow what a difference time can make!! When I saw the beautiful cover and description for the sequel I knew I wanted to give this book another chance! This time I was pulled into the world and character building. I found Tea and her brother very interesting. I think my problem before is in this book we are getting the setup of the story and then the outcome of some major events with large important portions missing that will undoubtedly be filled in, in the next book.
I think that missing info made the book feel incomplete and hard to follow in the first reading. It also doesn’t help that I don’t really like the backward story. When I see a scene at the start of a show and then it cuts to 24 hours ago....it usually drives me crazy!
I’m so glad I can start book two immediately now!

Original Review September 2016: I really wanted to like this! Unfortunately, I found this book so boring! I kept reading hoping that it would pick up and develop more. I forced myself to do finish, but it never got better. The idea of magic and strong women are usually a great combination. It was extremely difficult to "see" the world the author was building. It often did not make sense. The romance was not very good and it was hard to feel for characters.
