This book was such an incredible, harrowing read. Harrowing feels like an overused word when it comes to the Holocaust, but it's the only word that seems to adequately describe both the horrific events these women went through, as well as everything they had to do in order to survive.
The book follows the story of three women, looking at their life prior to WWII, their experience during the war, until they arrive at Auschwitz in 1944 all newly pregnant. This is a really interesting perspective and was so informative as to what was happening elsewhere in the war to help you understand the wider context.
The women follow a similar path, but with different relationships and different experiences. It made me cry, and I have so much respect for these women and their defiance and strength to save both themselves and their children in such an awful situation. This book will stay with me for a long time to come.
