A Pair of Blue Eyes by Thomas Hardy

4.0

As beautifully written as Hardy's later books. Felt a bit dragged out towards the end, and quite suddenly took a turn for the catastrophic but everything leading upto the part played out like a summer dream - youthful, light but always with a tinge of sadness attached to all incidents.

And once again, some of the subject matter felt way ahead of its time, as I've now come to expect from Hardy.
