If You're a Kid Like Gavin by Gavin Grimm, Kyle Lukoff

5.0

I loved Gavin's story about standing up for yourself and what you believe in, even if - or especially if! - you're a kid. Gavin tells his story about growing up trans and encourages readers to believe in themselves and fight for what they know is right and what they know is best for them. I liked that the book didn't shy away from tough topics. When Gavin comes out at school, he's bullied. So many books use kid gloves and let readers think that things might be a little tough but everything will work out in the end. That's not always the case, and I appreciated that this book didn't sugar coat the tough reality of being an LGBTQ+ kid in a world that doesn't always support you. I hope someone reads this book and feels less alone.
