Radiant Black, Vol. 1 by Kyle Higgins, Cherish Chen, David Lafuente, Marcelo Costa

2.0

A superhero origin story where the hero is typical down on his luck white guy who finds a cool cosmic black hole thing that turns him into a superhero and he's just kind of like "okay, yeah, this is my life now."

For an introductory volume, the story does little to make the characters engaging or memorable, or bring any kind of new breath or life at all into the narrative. It's readable, but not engaging.

Though there is a plot twist somewhere around the end of issue 4 that genuinely did surprise me.
