The Captivating Flames of Madness by Jeff Parsons
3.0
The Captivating Flames of Madness features 22 short horror stories. They all vary in content and creep factor. With any collection there will always be some stories that stand out more than others. Some of my favorites in this book are At Any Cost, Eye of the Storm, Bruja, and The Variant.
I didn’t find anything in here to be overly scary or nightmare worthy. It seems more like YA horror to me, reading like Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. The stories flowed well, and Parsons can write I just wish there were more horror elements in some of the stories. If you’re looking for something that is quick to read and more on the mild side, I’d say, check this one out.
