Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

4.0

There are two things that I regret about this book: One, that I didn't wait until all three books were released before reading them. I read the first two back to back and could not get enough of them. There was about a 5 and a half month gap before I got a hold of this third installment in the trilogy, way too long to wait in my opinion. Although I had remembered all the major details of the past two books, I forgot some rather important ones (such as sub-characters, storylines, etc).

The second regret is that whereas the first two books cover a true Hunger Games, this one does not. And before you start commenting on my review, yes, I realize that the Rebels going into the Capitol was compared to and thought of as another Hunger Games, it was not the same. Also, there was not enough attention to this aspect of the book, it was not drawn out the way the Games were in the first two books.

Now, all those regrets aside, I can say that I loved this book and am glad that I made it through the last 5 months of waiting for its release. It was definitely worth the wait. I would LOVE Suzanne Collins to come out with another series which is equally intriguing and appealing to adults (not just YA), especially if it is also dystopian in nature. I just can't get enough of that genre. (BTW: I'm always open to suggestions for new dystopian books to read.)

Thank you Suzanne Collins, for bringing such a wonderful series. Looking forward to your movie version of the Hunger Games to see how it is all brought to life on the big screen.
