The Coffinmaker's Garden by Stuart MacBride

5.0

This was my first read of Stuart MacBride’s work and now I am wondering why I haven’t devoured his books already.

So a huge thank you to The Pigeonhole for the ebook in exchange for an honest review and for introducing me to this brilliant author. It was nice to have Stuart’s highly entertaining videos and witty comments as I read. That was a real treat!

The Coffin Maker’s Garden is an Ash Henderson novel. I was unaware that this book is part of a series and was a little lost with a few of the many vibrant characters, however, it did not impact my enjoyment of the novel in any way.

This story is about a serial killer, well, two actually. One has been killing for a long time and the other is just starting out. It is up to Ash and his adorable sidekicks Alice and Henry to investigate the murders and find the killers before they take another innocent victim. The investigations are intense and entertaining. Things are so intense that Alice needs to drink, a lot, and Ash needs a hospital, badly. Will they find the murderers before they strike again?

From the beginning I was drawn into this story. I love a good crime thriller and The Coffin Maker’s Garden ticked all the boxes. Engaging story, check. Interesting characters, check. Suspenseful narration, check. Humour, check. And most importantly, descriptive and captivating writing, check! Perfect! Definitely a 5 star read for me and I will be reading his other work as well.
