This story is exactly what I was hoping for when I found it, and then some. It really scratched the sci-fi itch for me. I can also say it is the first book I’ve read that actually left me feeling scared at times, to the point where certain sections left me worried to read them at night out of fear of having trouble sleeping. If you’re looking for a story with space travel, mystery, and spookiness, then Dead Silence will fulfill. It manages to make what feels like a potentially supernatural or alien situation feel very realistic in a way I was not expecting, that twist did surprise me! The message here for me is that even when you suspect other sources for horrors, so often they come down to corporate greed. But in the face of it all, human determination pulls through, and those company jackoffs get their just desserts, as they should. The conclusion is satisfying and hopeful, despite everything that the characters went through. Truly - great read, it was a wild ride worth taking.
