Thoughts Alight Poetry by Kawtar Elmrabti

4.0

I myself, am not a huge poetry collection reader, but this piece of work from Elmbrati really caught my attention when I was looking for a starting point. I loved the message that this book brought with it. The hopeful poetry in it was inspiring and good.

It was a great mood booster, especially with everything going on in the world. It’s broken into four different sections that separate the poems. Starting with Love and ending with Meditation. I loved this system because it’s great to have when you’re reading and when you’ve finished and need a poem to brighten your mood.

Though, this collection was overtly positive – it did tackle serious issues like self-discovery, acceptance and love.

Here are some of my favorite lines throughout the poems:

You and I, brought together by the flaw of fates turquoise tides.
Your freckles, perfect constellations.
‘Be the Queen’ I gently whisper for my heart is your kingdom.

The poems, in the subheading, were spaced really nicely, there was a mix of short and long poems to keep you engage and have the pages fly by. I did find some words got repeated often, though it did give some of the poems a cohesiveness, but was also repetitive.

Overall, this poetry collection was such a joy to read. It flew by and so many of the poems have stuck with me because of their elegance and charm. If you’re like me and you’re looking to start in the poetry genre, I highly recommend giving this one a go.
