I have tried to read this book many times when I finally decided to try it as an audiobook instead. This helped a lot as I wasn’t falling asleep while reading the opening chapter but it didn’t make it much more enjoyable. I know that movie adaptations, how I first learned the story, can be misleading but this was epically true for this story. There seemed to have been no redeeming qualities for any of them and the saying “all for one and one for all” was just for this group of four, not the musketeers collectively. I loved and hated Lady de Winter as there was more to her than I’d imagined and it was deliciously selfish.
