Foxheart by Claire Legrand

This one really hit me in the feels and I cried multiple times. It deals with abandonment and bullying and the fear of letting people in when you’ve been hurt before. The main character Quicksilver has been through a lot but finds a bond with a dog who she names Fox but after finding out that not everything is as it seems she runs into someone who will change her life in an unusual way. Her bond with Fox is so heartwarming and his quick wit and cheekiness is great comic relief. There is a time travel element to this that I did not see coming that really piqued my interest. The idea and story was novel and kept my interest even when it was a bit creepy. Quicksilver can be hard to love (but I feel that too) and has a hard exterior but she has been through a lot and just needs to find the right people to help her remember that it’s okay to depend on others and work together. Lots to love in this one and I’m looking forward to reading more by the author in the future.
