Wholesome, sweet, and timeless.

A coming of age fantasy story, Daughter of the Moon Goddess follows Xingyin and her quest to free her mother from her enchantment. I liked the growth that Xingyin experienced and her desire to always follow her conscience. The love stories were sweet, and I will say that the plot did surprise me toward the end.

This wasn’t the best book I’ve ever read. I found myself craving more details about certain aspects of the story—the mortal realm and how it felt for Xingyin to be there, her daily existence. I think there was often more “tell” and less “show,” especially when it came to her friendships.

Even so, it was an easy read and interesting story. I’ll be reading the second book next.
