The Dregs #1 by Zac Thompson, Eric Zawadzki, Lonnie Nadler

4.0

Social criticism done right in a graphic novel. This tackles gentrification, addiction, poverty, and apathy in Vancouver's downtown eastside. This could have been so offensive, tasteless, and cruel. But instead it's a great commentary on the isolation of homeless populations and the metaphorical (and, in this case, literal) cannibalism of vulnerable people to make space for the wealthy and powerful. I'm waiting on the rest of these.
