Sweet Enemy by Heather Snow

4.0

This was fabulous! A wonderful debut novel, an interesting cast of characters, a great story-line, fabulous tension, a happy ending - all in all - a great read!

Liliana Claremont is a chemist, and has shunned the normal strictures that society places upon women to follow her passions and her dreams. When that leads to her discovering that her father was murdered, she follows the clues to the Stratford estate where she meets Geoffrey Wentworth, the Earl of Stratford.

Geoffrey is a returning war hero, who has taken up the reins of his family's estate after the death of his brother. Unlike many other novels that feature former soldiers and war heroes, Sweet Enemy doesn't focus on that aspect of Geoffrey's past, rather, it is just a part of him, and not a major facet.

The sexual tension between our two intrepid heroes is sizzling and the writing fabulous (nary a turgid nipple in sight!).

The discovery of both Geoffrey and Liliana and their love for each other is slow, lovely and surprises both of them. The chemistry between the two leads is palpable and oh-so-sweet.

Heather Snow has just landed herself on my automatic 'must buy' pile! A fabulous book!
