By the Pricking of My Thumbs by Agatha Christie

2.0

While I enjoy Agatha Christie and usually find her mysteries sharp and well-developed, I am unable to say that for this one. The mystery kicks off rather clumsily in my opinion. Tuppence proceeds to track down the origin of a painting but I never understood her real motivation. It seemed a flimsy reason to suspect it had anything to do with the no-longer-in-the-nursing-home woman.

From there, it seemed to awkwardly stack into some sort of mystery, although I struggled to follow it at times. By the end, there actually was some mystery and some conclusion (conveniently given to the reader by the criminal rather than the detective) but there were loose ends none the less.

Overall, this was a poor, ill constructed mystery. I cannot recommend it.
