Driehoek by Jon Klassen, J.H. Gever, Mac Barnett

I read this book in Dutch, but will be writing a review in English.

I have been meaning to read this book for some time. It has been on my OMG-need-to-buy shelf since I first heard this book was coming out.
But I am very happy I didn't buy this book, but instead found it at my library. The Dutch version, that is. But eh, it works.

Because, it was a fun book at times, but it didn't make me go OMG. It was nice, but nothing special. Plus I didn't like Triangle/Driehoekje. A prank is nice, but to play with the fear of your friends? Eh, no thank you. I would have rather seen him do another prank, or even just say hi to his friend and then do something together.

Plus it was a bit boring to see things being repeated. It would have been fun if Triangle and his friend would have taking a different route back to Triangle's home. And not a repeat (with the exact words).

The ending was rushed. Suddenly it was over. A question marks the last page, and I was flipping to the next page to see if there would be more. But nothing. Such a shame. I would have loved to see one more page. I guess I will just have to do that in my imagination.

Fabulous illustrations by Jon Klassen, those really kept me going. :)

But would I recommend this book? Mm, no. I am hoping that the next book by this author will be great again, like Extra Yarn and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole.
