A feel good, no muss love story.

Conner and Jamie were once friends as teens, and while Conner took his opportunity to leave his small town life in Oregon, Jamie is still stuck there, mostly out of circumstance and habit. Jamie doesn’t hesitate to bring Conner his inheritance, eager to experience something new.

These two quickly fall back into their easy friendship. Jamie is ready to indulge in all that L.A. has to offer, and he dives right in. Conner finds Jamie laid back, endearing, and not to mention cute. This tests Conner’s “anything goes” attitude, as his attraction to Jamie pushes the boundaries that define his sexuality. Conner’s zest for trying new things sets both he and Jamie on fire.

Understandably, Jamie doesn’t want to push Conner too hard, as he experiences his first foray into same sex shenanigans. He doesn’t want to get too attached because surely it’s just a fleeting thing, right? And Conner, never having had a stable home life, definitely doesn’t want the pressure of commitment since he doesn’t want to disappoint anyone.

This was of course sweet and smexy (though I do think the authors dropped the ball on the potential for fully fleshing out first time explorations). Not as heavy as the first book, I’m still always grateful for minimal relationship angst. Conner and Jamie only need to think hard about what they want and to go after it despite the risks. Their reward? Turning their strong attraction into something meaningful and long lasting.
