Six Sacred Swords by Andrew Rowe
1.0
DNF - I stopped about 20% (60+ pages) in. There really wasn't anything wrong with Six Sacred Swords by Andrew Rowe, it wasn't for me.
The premise of the novel is interesting enough . . . a young man goes on adventures to find six sacred swords of legend, meeting wizards, mythical creatures, and riddle speaking individuals while collecting various items to "power up" to the next level.
The issue I had with the novel is with Mr. Rowe's narrative choices. I found the story's narrator, Keras Selyrian, generally unlikeable and extremely arrogant. While those traits aren't an automatica deal breaker if handled well, the issue is that they were not handled well here. Keras came across as extremely smug, self-entitled, and rude; the attempts at self-deprecating humor rang false and a little to "meta" for my tastes.
