After the Fire by Will Hill
3.0
Wow. This book was so unexpected- pretty much saw it on the library bookshelf in the recommend area and thought I would give it go. Checked the reviews, and everyone only had good things to say, so was really eager to dig in.
Moonbeam is such a beautiful name, and an incredible main character. I knew she was going to be intriguing from the very first pages. I loved how the story went back and fourth between 'Before and 'After, you might think its confusing but its what made the story so great.
Father John is such an awful person, I hated him through out the whole book and Will Hill made sure of that, I think he wrote that character really well. As much as I couldn't stand him, I could understand why almost everyone in the cult trusted him and believed every word that came out of that deceiving mouth. It actually brought me back into the real world, to understand why so many people put their faith into manipulative leaders. Really interesting...
Each conversation she had with two of my other favourite characters Dr Hernandez and Agent Carlyle, felt as I was living the story with her, it angered me many and, I definitely gasped way to many times though the book. Its brutal, tense and intense and I struggled to put it down.
Believe the hype about this incredible book, its worth the read.
